ThermoBar 140 ECO is our smart, large-volume alternative offering great quality at a great price. The trough is constructed so that you can replace all its components yourself. In addition to horses, ThermoBar 140 ECO is perfect for sheep and smaller animals that have difficulty reaching down into our higher, round models. The width of ThermoBar 140 ECO also makes it suitable for long-horned animals. The large water surface allows animals to drink in an unstressed, natural manner. Also great for ducks who need to swim all year round. Its shape makes ThermoBar 140 ECO suitable to place under a fence so it can supply water to two paddocks at the same time. In the bottom there is a drainage hole with a plug that makes emptying, cleaning and changing water easy. Handles in the sides.

ThermoBar 140 ECO is temperature controlled. It supplies water at the optimal temperature all year round, reduces power costs and eliminates the risk of overheating. There are two different power levels: 150 watt that is enough for temperatures down to approx. -22°C, and for colder conditions or when installing a float valve and heated hose there is a 220-watt model – perfect for temperatures down to approx. -35°C. Both versions are suitable for a float valve and summer refilling system in the summer.

The entire outer trough is made from ThermoBar’s strong, food-grade polyethylene plastic. It is delivered with a two-metre low-voltage cable with a flat-pin plug, transformer for outdoor use plus a two-metre 230-volt cable with a regular power plug. Everything is assembled, you just have to connect the cable to a regular wall socket. It is recommended that the distance between the ThermoBar and the transformer is a maximum of 40 metres, and you can order a longer low-voltage cable if you are interested in this.

The power usage for ThermoBar 140, according to Swedish power company Jämtkraft in 2015: 150 watt for 24 hours costs approx. SEK 3.90. 220 watts for 24 hours costs approx. SEK 5.70. The actual running cost will be lower due to the temperature-controlled self-regulating foil heater turning off when the water is warm. The water is kept between 15-20 degrees Celsius.

ThermoBar 140 ECO can be complemented with our 24-volt heated hose ECO and Rojo float valve for automatic refilling, all year round. To install the heated hose and Rojo float valve, you need to bore a hole in the trough, it is simple to do but you will need to follow our instructions closely. See further information on our installation instructions for the heated hose and float valve, plus the film at the bottom of this page. (The film is made using a ThermoBar 65 ECO, but the procedure is exactly the same for your ThermoBar 140 ECO.)

Description

Coming from one of the short sides of the ThermoBar 140 ECO there is a two-metre long 24-volt low-voltage cable with a flat-pin plug to the transformer. The electrical current from the transformer to the ThermoBar is low, 24 volts, and completely safe. However, the current is quite high, 6-8 ampere. This means that you cannot use a really long low-voltage cable between the transformer and the tank. If you do, the voltage will be too low when it reaches the ThermoBar. This is why our low-voltage cable delivered with your ThermoBar is two metres but we have lengths up to 40 metres available which is the maximum length we recommend. NB! Avoid using a longer cable than you need as this will lead to a lower water temperature and higher energy use.
From the transformer, a two-metre 230-volt cable has a plug that can be plugged into a regular power socket.

Everything you need is included in the price:
